Effective IT in the NHS

 Effective IT in NHS_6447425Small

The National Programme for IT (NPfIT) is now delayed until 2015. Few trusts can afford to wait until then as current systems may be inadequate and pressing operational needs must be addressed, and it is not clear that NPfIT will in any case meet all needs.

Our approach gives a pragmatic solution, building on your current IT investment to create an interim strategy that secures current operational needs whilst preparing for NPfIT roll-out in due course.

IT investment in the short term should be the first step in migration to the NPfIT architecture.

  • Operational resilience is assured by reviewing IT infrastructure and application systems to ensure that they are properly managed
  • Achieving and maintaining Foundation Trust status is supported by a relevant and current IT strategy
  • Short-term IT investments can be taken in the knowledge that precious funding will not be wasted
  • A robust IT Strategy will drive operational improvement throughout the trust
